Now Is a Great Time to Take Online Career Aptitude Tests

Attention Students!

Are you spending a lot of time around the house this summer? Or have you just learned that your high school or college will be delivering courses remotely this fall?

If that is your current situation, we have a suggestion for you. Why not spend some time now taking online career tests to reevaluate your possible college major and your long-term career plans?

Here’s a list of different online career tests that we have tried out. They use different methodologies. Some charge a fee, while others are free – a difference that we note in each description below. They give different perspectives on your career plans, and they offer a productive way to spend your time while you are at home.

Free Online Career Tests

The Princeton Review Career Quiz
This test is used by high school college admissions counselors, and it is a good test to start with. You respond to statements (Examples: “I would rather be a TV news anchor” and “I would rather be a tax lawyer”) and get a career profile. It takes about 10 minutes to complete.

123 Career Test
This interactive quiz, which is a good choice for students in high school and younger grades, uses a much different approach. You click on pictures of people who are engaged in different careers such as doing lab research or taking nature photographs, then answer questions that evaluate your interest in those jobs. Based on your responses, the test recommends careers to consider.

iPersonic® Career Test
After spending a minute answering four questions, you get some advice about the kind of work you should consider. The underlying goal of the quiz is to promote the services of iPersonic®, a counseling service. But it’s fun and quick and the results can be thought-provoking.

The Truity® TypeFinder
This fun quiz takes about 15 minutes to complete. You answer weighted questions such as, “I like ideas that are complex” vs. “I like ideas that are easy to understand.” Test-takers get a brief report/analysis for free but are invited to pay for additional tools and services.

Work Interest Wizard Test
This quiz takes a unique approach – you state how often you like to perform different tasks. (Example: “How often do you like to maintain operational records?”) The quiz then suggests careers that you should consider.

Participate in our Career Pathway Study to gain new insights about making career and educational decisions that align with your interests, passions, and aptitudes. After you complete the career test you will receive information from colleges and universities that match you interest.

Motivational Appraisal of Personal Potential (MAPP) Test
This quiz from Assessment.com, takes about 30 minutes to complete. Please note that after taking the test, you are only given a partial report about your career preferences and then must pay for a full report.

Kolbe A^TM Index
This unusual quiz measures the instinctive ways you take action. When you are solving a difficult problem, for example, do you prefer to rely on skill, do research, structure the problem, or experiment. The fee for taking the test is $55.00.
