Destination Imagination a Student Research Foundation Partner

Stay Creative While You Stay At Home!

In these days of social distancing and stay-at-home guidance, it’s more important than ever to connect with friends and family members and to continue expressing your creativity.  That’s why the Student Research Foundation would like to tell you about a great opportunity for students and their families, from Destination Imagination, one of our student research partners.

Destination Imagination’s Global Finals 2020 Virtual Tournament (GF20) is a one-of-a-kind collaborative problem-solving experience that takes place 100% online and is open to all students and families (yes, you read that right!) who enjoy being creative, collaborative, and solving fun challenges that require out-of-the-box thinking. Teams are NOT required or encouraged to meet in person. All components of GF20 can be completed virtually with the use of video conferencing platforms and other means of digital communication.

Destination Imagination has just announced that starting April 15th, it is accepting entries for its Global Finals 2020 Virtual Tournament (GF20). GF20 is a unique creativity challenge designed by the team at Destination Imagination and we can’t think of a more stimulating activity for families to enjoy this summer.

What Kind of Project Will You and Your Family Complete?

The Destination Imagination team has named this year’s Virtual Team Challenge “Distance Makes the Art Grow Stronger.”

After you enter, you and your team will receive the details you need to complete your project on May 1st.

What will the challenge be like? Your team will create and perform a story about characters who work together to reach a goal. Your team will also create and incorporate a work of art into your performance. You will use at least one video conferencing platform to perform your story.

Creative Challenge Timeline

  • April 15: Registration opens for GF20
  • May 1: The 2020 Virtual Team Challenge is released
  • June 15: Your family team submits its project
  • June 16 – June 29: To keep things hopping, Destination Imagination will release one brand-new Virtual Instant Challenge every week
  • July 16: Winners are announced at a Virtual Closing Celebration

The cost to take part is $199, which covers DI’s break-even point to run the event*. And prizes will be awarded! You’ll want to check them out here.
